Happy Feet
You will need to pay for the class when you sign up. You will need your EUROPEAN size of shoe. You can generally locate your european size inside the tongue of your tennis shoes at home.
Choose your fabric for your tennis shoes, tongue, and inside of shoe.
1 fabric uppers - 2 fat quarters (inside and out) plus 10" x 10" for tongue
2 fabric uppers - 2 fat quarters plus 10" x 10" for tongue
You will need 1/4 yd for binding
1/2 yd bosal (soft and stable), or (Pellon Flex-Foam Ff79F2)
1/2 yd midweight woven fusible interfacing (Pellon SF101)
NOTE: These interfacing/interlinings give the shoes their structure. If you substitute other interfacings, quilt batting or omit interfacing/interlining altogether, your shoes will be very soft and shapeless like slippers.

| Requirements: | Bring a lunch. Scissors, marking pen, pins/clips, general sewing supplies Homework MUST be completed before attending class: Your fabric MUST be quilted prior to class. You can use any quilt pattern you like. General sewing tips: * Use a size 90 sharp or microtex needle. A universal-point needle is not sharp enough to pierce the fusible foam * All seam allowances are 1/4" unless instructed otherwise. * Use a 2.6 to 2.8 stitch length for quilting lines and use a 2.2 stitch length for bindings * a 1/4" presser foot without a flange or "wall" is helpful for construction. Use a wide-toes presser foot for good visibility for quilting lines. A quilting bar is very useful as well. * If your machine has an even-feed feature, use it. A walking foot attachment is very helpful if your machine doesn't have even-feed options. * Sew curves at a steady slow-to-medium speed. * Sew stabilizing stitches around the edges of each component piece with the 1/4" seam allowance. |
